Dance Astronaut – house, electro, progressive, dubstep
Fast getting close to their 60 th release, Smash The House’s legacy has not been built on subtle big room moments. True to the particular historic form of the Belgian imprint, it is Dutch coupling Alvaro plus Dirtcaps that delivers the goods to Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike’s budding label project, bringing with them the genre-bending taste of the national great right in time for the final challenge of the summer. Part triplet-heavy capture nod, part chugging big area outing with melodic undertones, “Dagga” juggles genre hallmarks in a way that displays considerable aptitude for the sound everyone appears to be seeking fault in for 2014. The monitor shows real gusto for the lifeblood from the heavy-footed festival anthem and the Nederlander influence that has so liberally fuelled it do date, giving these duo a much deserved spotlight away from their own national comfort zone. If Alvaro plus Dirtcaps weren’ t already mounting your list of hot properties from The Netherlands then their mutual Smash The House debut should be all the convincing you need.
