The remix recording to Boys Noize‘ s third studio LP, Out of the Black, has been a long time coming — over a year in fact. With that said, the ten-track compilation has been very worthwhile wait. Featuring a legendary cast associated with producers, Out of the Black: The Remixes is really a prodigious release for Alex Ridha and Boysnoize Records.
We first caught wind from the impending remix album back in November of 2012 thanks to a outstanding disco remix of “ That which you Want” by none other than Chromeo. When official remixes from Justice as well as the Chemical Brothers soon followed, we all knew the release was shaping up to be monumental. While Justice revamped “ Ich R U” in to a typically tantalizing rock opera, The Chemical Brothers flipped “ XTC” into a twisting, paranormal experience.
Aside from these previously launched renditions, Out of the Black: The Remixes brings lots of new tracks to light, most notably a new Oliver remix. The Los Angeles-based collaboration of Oligee and U-Tern has proven to be one one of the most exciting production duos of the previous year and their remix to Boys Noize and Siriusmo’ t “ Conchord” boasts an irresistibly dark vibe, offering one of the top remixes of the entire LP.
Other standout tracks include Jimmy Edgar’ s recently revealed techno dub to “ That which you Want” as well as Blood Diamonds’ take on the Snoop Dogg-aided “ First got it. ” Overall, the remix recording is a satisfactory and long-overdue sequel to Out of the Black .
