Exactly Why Does So Much People Think All Electronic Music Is Called Techno When Its Not?

Thats like calling metal, pop or like calling rock, metal and blues, band music. Electronic is a medium not a genre and techno is a genre not a term that all other electronic music falls under. You cant call all music made by a guitar flamenco for example. Seriously its not that hard to tell the major electronic genre groups apart, the subgenres are hard but not the main groups.

In the industry “Techno” refers to both music with electronic music and is a genre of music, it is generally called “Techno” by people who don’t know the difference between the genres of electronic music, also, very few genres exist that the average listener without knowing the music theory can tell the difference between, epically with bands starting to use and occasional electronic instrument in rock music, and if you are hearing something electronic in rock, it’s almost always a real instrument with an effect, which is not usually (non-keyboards) considered electronic And I have never heard someone use the term “Band music” outside of Classical music Also, chances are unless you have a degree in music theory, you probably can’t tell the differences in the sub-genres And all generalizations about music are wrong anyways… So who cares…

Who cares? Genre classifications have no real meaning anyway. They’re all BS.
