Mixture of the Day: Pheek

This is an unusual Mix of the Day from Montreal’s Jean-Patrice Remillard, better known as Pheek: a live set culled from various sources, possessed of a organic quality but also planned over several months.

In his beginning, Pheek supplementing his computer technology studies with his own experiments straight into minimal sounds, eventually catching the particular ear of his hero Richie Hawtin, who put “Le Plan B” on the Minus compilation Minimize to Maximize . In 2005 JP established his own Archipel label and, as we learnt in this Slices feature, he also practices contact improvisation, a freeform dance technique. Taking this love of manifestation one step further, this set captures Pheek at his live, user-friendly best.
